Zizzi

Sited on Brayford Wharf in Lincoln, this cavernous former nightclub was chosen by the Gondola Group as the next location for their ‘Zizzi’ brand and commissioned Dover Design to design and implement the project.
With strong competition from rival brands nearby it was important to take advantage of the very large site. However drainage point locations proved restrictive and together with low centrally positioned beams the site would prove to be awkward.
Dover Design rose to the occasion with a sharp contemporary design. Clever planning of the unit overcame the restrictions imposed by the drainage points and low beams. A raised area was created on which was located the theatre kitchen and circular booths were introduced together echoing the ‘uphill - downhill’ hierarchical history of the town and it’s medieval ‘roundhouse’ architecture. A bold mural and LED lighting system bisecting the ceiling highlights that the Red Arrows were once based locally and completes the striking design.
